My Last..

Book
Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is a collection of short stories that toys with Murakami's signature themes of death, beauty and depression. He writes about a woman who was killed by her addiction to dresses, a boy who ws swallowed by a tidal wave and a plethora of wandering lost souls. My personal favourite was Firefly, the story that seemed to inspire Norwegian Wood. Interesting to see the transition. If you love short stories, or Murakami, this is well worth a read.

Film
I think everyone is having a Wes Anderson moment due to the release of Fantastic Mr. Fox. Like anything that spawns from Andersons genius mind, The Life Aquatic is akin to watching an artwork. Every still is worth framing. The performances cannot be flawed and the deadpan humour, especially that delivered by Bill Murray (Steve Zissou) is just hilarious. Magazine
let them eat cake is A. a phrase commonly misattributed to Marie Antionette and B. A magazine in its third year of publication that specialises in the employment of up and coming names in creative industries such as styling, photography, graphic design, writing etc. The current issue (not pictured) is my first experience Let them eat Cake and I was really impressed by the subject matter of the articles which range from the ever fading line between men and womens clothing, red heads, dada and other assorted rants. I later read that the team behind the publication aimed to "create a fashion magazine for the new generation." I think they're doing a damn good job of it.
