And again.

Young Alexander Wang is still freeaaking killing it. Did you see Abbey Lee in that mohair. Man, what a babe. He is a deadset genius. Oh and santa, again, a nice white T by AW would be fairly supreme. Thanks.

Dear Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year.
I like these silk screen printed polaroid scarfs.
Maybe you could like get me one, and shit.
Love Emmie.

(ohhhh nooo i forget where I found these! I think the label is reborn? help me outttt. I want one!)

she was a manic depressive. which was impressive.

Not to sound like a cynic, but every time I come back home I am disappointed. In some way or another. The water wasn't as warm as it used to be. The nights aren't as long or as devious. Unsure if its just a case of the grass is always greener or everything is better in memory but whatever. Figures my time is better off spent mothering my neglected blog than yawning in the newly renovated sleazy pub, waiting for something to happen. Thats the problem with going home. You expect everything to change and it doesn't. You feel disconnected. Then it does change. And its like, fuck. I am not this person anymore. BUT WHATEVER. I don't know how these pictures are relevant but I enjoy them. They are from the Selby, of course, and honestly, I just like to look at them.

Oh hai there sweet freedom, its been a while.

Uni Students are usually written off as surviving on mi goreng, thai lunch specials and happy hour beer. Now this is not the case for everyone, as with any other predjudice, but those who do live up to the expected have good reason. Mainly to due to the fact that youth allowance is being guzzled up by unemployed, half arsed students who live comfortably in the home and clutches of a parent. To avoid falling below the poverty line (or moving to Punchbowl) we often agree to jobs that induce grevious physical pain or loss of both intelligence and/or self respect. These jobs may allow us to experience some of the greater pleasures in life, such as sliced bread and unprocessed cheese, yet render our lifes completely void of joy. Ironically, the job in which I was unwillingly employed saw me advocating and spreading joy. The joy, no less, of Christmas. I'd like to proclaim right here, I am no such 'grinch'. I enjoy Christmas as much as I enjoy food, wine and gifts (and guiltly, leafing through the christmas edition of assorted house magazines.) Yet, I must admit there is some sort of resistance in the brain against enjoying Christmas carols. Especially in November. I also believe, that sitting in the trunk of some 'magical' (read: peverted) tree and chatting to children, whom you are spying on through a video camera is both morally wrong and grossly degrading. In essence, this job was crushing the dreams of small, burberry clad wankers and their babycinos all over Sydney. How was I doing this? By scaring the fucking shite out of them by pretending to be a tree. A tree named David, which is an interesting way to introduce children to the concept of transgenders, no? Also, by replying to their letters to Santa right before their very eyes, yawning in the face of elves, overcharging for sweets... The worst part is, I was doing all this for a mere $16 an hour! Outrageous! Lets not overlook the fact that I was spoiling Christmas for myself. I never, ever, needed to hear Santa use the freaking facilities whilst I was blowing up helium balloons, unaware he had crept in purely to burn my ears with the sound of his piss. Honestly. I don't know whats worse, the fact that I was paid to blow up helium balloons in a mens bathroom, or the glee my discomfort brough to those bastards faces.

My point? I quit this job. Today. So its back to six dollar lunch specials and blogging. Which I am way more than stoked with. So I beg of you, when offered a Christmas themed job just think of the talking tree, shake your head and cry - "No means no David. No means no."

In the mood for summer?

So yesterday my boyfriend rings me and tells me hes found something I'll really love. Used to his incessant jokes I disregarded the claim. That is, until I arrived at his place and discovered the danish model who previously lived in the room had left one damn nice little collection of magazines. Considering she is now in Europe, I have claimed them as my own. The cache includeded two Vogue Italia's (including the black issue!) an I.D I already had (the one with Lara Stone on the cover. But you can never have tooo much Lara Stone.) annnnd the issue of W with the 30 page shoot of Lara, Kate and Daria. So much goodness. I can't really post all 30 photos cos that would be kinda excessive, so here are just a few. By the way how cute is Alexander Wang? I just want to give him a cuddle.

Weapon of Choice.

Eating too many clinkers. Trying to put off doing my washing. Which would not be a task at all if i had an actual washing machine. But anyway. All these shapes are so great. So complex to do by hand but I'd really like to try some day. I'm up to shaping my first ring now. Very exciting. So this is just ambitious aspiration really. We all like to dream...

This Charming Man.

This Charming Man is Edward Janssen. His creations are pretty cool aesthetically speaking. The thing that kills me though, is the fact that the rings and necklaces double as wax seals. My god, how romantic. The perfect gift for the morbid novelist. Edgar Allen Poe indeed. He's hinting at the old nature vs machine conundrum yet I think their duality hints at a little playful tounge in cheek humour, don't you think?

Une Fille, Une Style

Yasmin Sewell has the most incredible job. Ex - mostinfluentialboutiqueever - owner and now the cheif creative consultant for Liberty store and private customers. It seems we really must leave Australia to make our mark. So in awe of people who take enormous risks which totally pay off. For now, I'm just going to stick to uni and retail, but hey, one day I might do something spontaneous and outrageous. Maybe.

where do you go to my lovely.

How pretty are these images from www.polkadots-vodkashots.blogspot.com? How I love interiors. I think my room is due for a little change around. It's just kinda uninspiring when I know I'll be moving again in a month or so. There are lots of changes in the works at the moment. finishing my first year uni, starting two new jobs and a silversmith course. I'm excited, but kinda overwhelmed. I've also finished my first zine. Yay! I'll do some scans and post soon.

pour champagne on a honey bee.

Have a peek at cute blog little lost love to see where I got the inspiration for this post. I really do love books. I never have enough time to read all the ones I want to, even though its part of my course requirement. Sigh. This is the current bedside stack: Truman Capote's tiny short story collection My side of the Matter, Hunter S. Thompson's Kingdom of Fear, Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood, Marguerite Duras' The Lover, Murakami's Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Penelope Green's When in Rome, Current issues of Frankie and Russh and a rather old copy of Lula. Thoughts? Suggestions? Apologies regarding the awful photograph.

On a friday.

Fridays are exciting. I'm spending my friday morning grappling with my dear little typewriter who never behaves. Just finishing off a little Japan - inspired zine for Uni on monday, I'm about to give typing a break and get out the glue stick, shit yeah! Who doesn't love making collages. Above are some super pretty pictures by Tim Walker. Hopefully they'll inspire you to do something creative too. Like a cartwheel perhaps. Love.

Love Letters.

Andy Lifschutz is a jewellery designer from Portland. His new collection is based on love letters.

Exploring the connection all lovers, past, present and future have on our lives and creativity, the pieces are made from found items spanning a 20 year period and like most artisans, he is a bowerbird of sorts, collecting and rummaging through second hand stores, markets and rubbish to find something that resonates with him. Love Love Love.
