Just returned from a day of shopping. Its been awhile. Suffice to say I am more than content with my purchases. Currently regretting not buying O.P.I matte navy polish and the sweetest pair of mimco spotted tights. Perhaps I can gift them to myself for my birthday next Thursday. Is that done? So, I'm just browsing the collections and must admit, favourites are piling up too fast to write about. I'm still impressed by Balmain, embarrasingly enough. A little uncool like that, considering I also love sass&bide and ksubi. Can't help it. Just do. One of many guilty pleasures.

I changed my header! Yeah! Finally found something that fits without me having to alter it in any way. Its by Japanese artist Tomoko Konoike, whose main influences are picture books, wolves, red shoes, forests, metamorphisis, Buddah and traditional Japanese architecture. So sweet. I'm particularily loving the mediums - sculpture and child like illustration with intense subject matter. Mmmmm. Back to online window shopping...

On a friday.

Fridays are exciting. I'm spending my friday morning grappling with my dear little typewriter who never behaves. Just finishing off a little Japan - inspired zine for Uni on monday, I'm about to give typing a break and get out the glue stick, shit yeah! Who doesn't love making collages. Amazing polaroid transfers from Brooklyn's shehitpause.studios' Girls and Dreams collection. The 8x10framed images will set you back $65, which isn't a big ask for work this incredible. I just have no idea which one to choose. I struggled enough with picking five for the post. Keeping in mind these are just from one single collection. The others, surfing, props and random scenes, coney island and flowers are just as nostalgic, inspiring and evocative. Photographer Matt Schwartz's images are constantly being described as "walking into a memory." I cannot think of a more perfect description. The Girls and Dreams collection is apparently based on his version of the pin up girl, and all models are friends or customers. What a sweetheart, right? He also dabbles in wedding photography, so we know the guy is a romantic at heart, hence the pastels, shadows and feminine fabrics. God, I was told I was a romantic the other day. Initially offended, I'm starting to think, maybe, just maybe there could be a little of it in me.

Salvador Dali.

Yes, I went to Liquid Desire on the weekend, and oui, I will gush about it to anyone who will listen. So for now, I will not gush, I will simply tell you to (cyber) toddle over to youtube, type in destino and watch the short film Dali and Disney started creating in the 40's. Words seriously cannot describe. Also, has anyone ever seen a fashion editorial based on any of Dali's photographs? I can't imagine why someone would not have used the idea yet.
