I can't choose my favourite Japanese fashion. It is one hundred per cent impossible and I cannot, and will not do it. One I fell in love with, especially when wondering the streets of Harajuku, or flicking through magazines like Spoon and Fudge, was Mori Girl (Forest Girl). Apparently it started around 2006 when a girl on a fashion page was told she looked like she could live in the woods. It now boasts a monolithic online community and a myriad stores. On a Japanese news website I found this checklist.
Are you are Mori Girl?
- You are fair skinned
- Your hair is soft and wavy
- You prefer dark or natural colours
- You keep your nails short
- You like to wear loose dresses
- You don't like fashion that is too 'sweet'
- You prefer leather bags
- You like antiques and pocket watches
- You use round blush on your cheeks
and my personal favourite - Puffed sleeves make your heart ache
naaaaawwwwwwwww
Its a kinda specific list, but idea is still awesome. I think toned down, its basically a natural, layered style which is pretty easy to achieve and suits almost everyone. Think linens and crotchet. Don't forget the puffy sleeves!
