This is from an Editorial from the Vogue Nippon I picked up in Japan. Shot by Mark Segal, it features Tao Okamoto, one of Japan's most sought after models of the moment. I find Androgyny can often lack creativity in many lesser editorials. I mean, if it's just a girl in boys clothing, it's been done. Her name was Coco Chanel and she revolutionised fashion. It really has to offer something more to be really effective. Basically, this appealed to me as it was half shot in a black and white noir style, complete with cigarettes and a greasy quiff. Possibly the most striking shots were those of Tao's chest exposed. The make - up, hair and clothing had began to fool you into thinking she was a man then bang - breasts. Subversive and a wee bit explicit, perfection.
